One of the best things about travelling at this time of year in North America is the few tourists that you see. This compensates for the fact that quite a few “tourist attractions” are closed. Although there were quite a few people around the falls it was easy to move around. I think I mentioned [...] North America has certainly proven to be interesting. I was considering the concept yesterday of being an anthropological tourist. I like to take an interest in the world beyond the macro that is to say I like to see the sites, take the photos and thrill to the fact you are somewhere you have only [...] I would like to start this post by apologising for the lack of posts for the past few days. We were spoilt in New York by the ease of access of Apple Stores and even in New Haven we managed to find an open wi-fi hot spot. Boston and Toronto were both devoid of free [...] As you are no doubt aware America is a deeply religious country and while New York is pleasantly full of heathens once you get out of the city you discover that you don’t need to scratch the surface that deeply in order to find that God fearing heart. Over a modest breakfast of quiche, croisant [...] I like to think that I am good at being a tourist. The idea is to become as much like a local as it is possible to be. Go native if you like. Take Starbucks the ubiquitous coffee houses. The strange thing about Starbucks is that they are like the venerable English Bobby, there is never one around when you need one.
